Our research
Arthritis research can be grouped into three major areas:
- Inflammation which occurs in joint diseases such as Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), axial spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis, and in gout. Many inflammatory rheumatic diseases are caused by autoimmune reactions. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and psoriatic arthritis are autoimmune diseases, as are systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), scleroderma and the different forms of vasculitis
- Degenerative disorders of the spine and joints such as osteoarthritis
- Diseases of bone such as osteoporosis.
Research priorities
Our current scientific focus is on research which studies inflammation and autoimmune reactions.
